House Torn Asunder

Reno’s elevation is 4,400 feet above sea level; Winter has light snowfall.
San Jose, California is 85 feet above sea level.
It’s moving day in the trailer park. And what a mess. Half my house is in the bed of that truck. Surprisingly it’s not that much. What’s left are clothes, dishes and silverware, towels and blankets and the thrift store furniture to truck up there. That’s it! I’ve been fighting the bug I got, drugged with antibiotics, congestion, aches and pains—but nothing’s gonna stop me from getting to hell out of here. It’s been a nightmare living here all these years, and now it’s all finally over. See? I told you it would happen. Just had to wait for the economy to nosedive to do it. There won’t be anything new here tomorrow. Check back on Friday for more photos and such. The gas dropped again four more cents in one day, down to $2.15 a gallon. The truck’s filled to the brim; it’s got new oil and coolant. Send me your good luck vibes as I have a grand total of 8 hours of driving ahead of me, over 500 miles total. The mind power of goodwill works! Will be back Friday, WITH VIDEO! Will take pictures of the mountains and the new apartment empty. Thanks for all your good luck emails and encouragement. Mood: elevated!

The bathroom wall, where round pictures once hung. Isn’t that a sight? Guess who cleans it?

A circle where the round clock was showing how dirty the wall is.

All the pictures removed from the yellowed walls of dirt, uncleaned since 2002.

By this time next week this entire room will be empty. My living space for over 5 long years.

Here’s what that room looked like on July 3, 2003 when I moved in.

The truck’s great atomic motors will carry me safely through treacherous mountains to the biggest little city.
