It was only a matter of time before gas prices got the best of Americans and they began to lift their voices in protest. 29-year-old Jay Weinberg, from Valparaiso, Indiana, Jay climbed up on the roof of the Family Express convenience store with a guitar and a megaphone and began serenading commuters. Gas was selling for $3.78 a gallon as Jay performed his ditty called “Price Gouge’n.” Dozens of supporters gathered around and chanted: “I can’t afford it. I’m banging on my dashboard. I can’t believe they think I’m a fool.”
The performance lasted about 15 minutes before police arrested Jay. The crowd, made up of his friends and other people who just happened to be pumping gas, continued singing. Then some, including his wife, Danielle, bailed him out.
When he was released around 7:30 p.m. he was greeted with cheers.
